Grounding?
Electrical grounding for the human body is a therapeutic technique that involves creating a direct physical connection between the human body and the Earth's surface. This connection facilitates the transfer of free electrons from the Earth into the body, which can reduce excessive oxidative stress, thought to contribute to inflammation and disease.
From a biophysical perspective, grounding the human body aims to align the body's electrical potential with that of the Earth's surface, establishing a state of electrical equilibrium. The Earth maintains a negative electric charge on its surface, and when a person comes into conductive contact with the ground (e.g., by walking barefoot or using conductive systems connected to the Earth), their body's electrical potential becomes equalized with the Earth's, leading to various physiological benefits.
These benefits, while still a subject of ongoing research, include reductions in inflammation, improved sleep, reduced stress levels, and enhanced circadian rhythm regulation. The grounding of the human body is studied in the context of its potential impacts on the inflammatory response, autonomic nervous system function, and overall electrical homeostasis.
